Portfolio of Amar et Isabelle Guillen
Professional freelance photographers (independents)

We try to always show the links between the human beings with their environment. The human and animalist behaviours, the urban landscapes and natural, ecology and the environment are the conducting wires that guide our eye through the viewfinder of our camera.
We currently live in Plano, in the suburbs of Dallas in Texas, United States. We are French but American residents. We run a photography company, Guillen Photography, registered in Texas. We do underwater, nature, portraits and reports shots all over the world.
We regularly publish technical articles and reports in web or paper magazines. Our articles are written either in English or French language. We have been published in Germany in the prestigious Unterwasser. We put some samples on the web site that you can check in the Publications/Credits menu.

Our fields of photo expertise
are underwater photography, travel photography, reporting photography, nature photography, landscape photography, wildlife photography and portrait photography.
They are varied but are always complementary to give a global vision of the
relations between the human beings and nature. Our animalist photographs relate
to as well the underwater photography as the terrestrial photography. The animalist
behaviours that we photograph relate to the reproduction of the coral as well,
the life of the anemones in the SAINT LAURENT, which life of the town animals
like the pigeons or the squirrels, or the sea lions or the penguins of Galapagos
while passing by deers or raccoons.
In our photographs of landscapes, we always try to show the beauty, complexity,
the richness and the terrible brittleness of the environment, which surrounds
us. Whatever a photograph of a large American metropolis, a village of the North
of France or of a landscape of dream of Central America or in the Pacific Ocean,
we always try to bring a different vision. Our approach always consists in seizing
angles, colours and lights which give a prospect different from the simple landscape
of the postcard type. In our photographs of portraits, we apply to always showing
the human societies such as they are really in their behaviours, their habits,
their manners of living with the daily newspaper, in their relationships to
their close environment.
This philosophy of our photographic work is not solely used to us to carry out
complete reports for image stocks or magazines, but also let us apply we it
during our training courses of underwater photographs which we teach everywhere
in the world. In our two technical books devoted to the underwater numerical
photograph, we solely did not endeavour to describe technique, but we tried
to give elements for a new approach of the photography: more real, without masking
the truth, with no compromise.
Our photo work quite
simply consists to show the true life.
