“Musical Notes on Water” – A Collection of Fine Art Photos in Shades of Blacks and Whites
During a trip to Kenya, we chose to spend few days with a tribe of the Masai people near Lake Magadi. Every morning, we went to the cliffs that line the lake to make some art photographs of the sunrise, which is spectacular at that time of the day.
One morning, we were fortunate to discover an entire colony of flamingos land on the lake as the sun rose. Immediately, the delicacy of the birds strewn on their high legs evoked for us notes of music. We were completely surprised by the extraordinary calm and serenity that occurred with such a wondrous sight.
We were inspired with the idea of a wild musical score. Although no notes had been played, the whole scene was masterfully orchestrated like a symphony. This sweet melody of serenity and absolute tranquility could be heard rising from the lake. All the birds moved so slowly so as not to break the fragile musical balance that had been created. We perceived this magical moment for a few minutes until the golden sun sunk beneath the dark horizon. Suddenly, for some reason that we did not understand, the flamingos flew to another part of the lake. The concert was over. Our ears still continue to resound with that sweet wild melody that rose from Lake Magadi.
