The Rocky Mountains in Colorado in United States

The Rocky Mountains also called Rockies in United States form a large assembly line in the west of North America. They stretch more than 4800 kilometers (3000 miles) from Mexico in the south to Alaska in north. They are divided between the United States and Canada. The altitude of the mountains varies between 1500 meters (4500 feet) and 4401 meters (14 400 feet) (Elbert Mount in Colorado). The width of the Rockies varies between 120 and 350 kilometers and it has a form long extent in longitude on several kilometers. The rivers which run since the Rockies throw in three of the four oceans of the world: the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and the Arctic Ocean. Water in its many forms sculpted the present Rocky Mountain landscape. Runoff and snowmelt from the peaks feed Rocky Mountain rivers and lakes with the water supply for one-quarter of the United States. The rivers that flow from the Rocky Mountains eventually drain into three of the world's Oceans: the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean.
