It is part of the vast Chihuahuan Desert, which covers the northern Mexico and the southern United States. Big Bend is covered 90% by desert landscapes made up of mountains, crevices and cracks. ![Landscape of Big Bend in Texas. The Rio Grande river: the border between Mexico and United States.](/data/blog/2015/018-paysages-galerie-texas-big-bend/images/landscape-big-bend-texas-black-and-white-amar-guillen-photographer.jpg) Landscape of Big Bend in Texas. The Rio Grande river: the border between Mexico and United States. For landscape photographers, this is an absolutely amazing area for unique photos. Indeed, Big Bend is crossed by the famous Rio Grande River that separates Mexico from the United States. All along the river silt that has settled on the banks allows the development of vast green areas. They contrast with the supernatural beauty and totally bare minerals desert landscapes. The colors and the lights at dawn and dusk reveal a generous nature where cacti and yuccas are trying to survive in an arid region where temperatures can reach 40 degrees Celsius in the day and 0 degrees Celsius at night. Photographing the Big Bend Park is not easy because it is immense. The area covers 3,300 km². The park is crossed by few roads and paths that allow travel by car. But the key is to walk to create good pictures. A perfect knowledge of the area is essential to being in the right place at the right time. I have been several time to Big Bend but I have not yet exploited the possibilities. I even wonder if an entire life will be sufficient to photograph all the park. - Landscape of Big Bend in Texas in black and white.
