Black and White Landscape Fine Art Prints: “Natural Wonders of Antelope Island"

The Story of the Collection
For this collection of fine art prints in my theme « shades of blacks and whites », I wanted to explore the power of natural elements when they are unleashed in nature, as well as their symbolic representation.
This collection of artistic photographs highlights Antelope Island, which is located on the immense salty lake of Salt Lake City in the state of Utah in the United States.
Although the island is no longer inhabited, it used to belong to settlers who cultivated the land and raised livestock.
Antelope Island is populated only by wild animals: approximately 600-700 bison, coyotes, American antelope, deer, and millions of aquatic birds.
Since the island has a desert climate, only a few trees manage to survive in the salty earth. Covering almost 109 km2 (42 square miles), the island reveals a unique beauty through its aridity.
Some of these photographs display the power of a thunderstorm when a mighty downpour lasts for hours.
It was only after several trips to the island that I had the chance to experience a thunderstorm which is unique to this region. The sky suddenly darkened. The clouds that formed were not compact but had extraordinary shapes. The lights were exceptional, while the storm raged for several hours. Rain fell in torrents, and the runoff built up due to the saturated earth. It was a fascinating sight.
During the various lulls, I was able to capture these photographs. Amidst the intense action, the majestic bison continued to graze as if nothing extraordinary was happening.
The black and white technique that I adopted for this collection of art prints allows me to accentuate the very strong symbolism portrayed through the storm.
A storm symbolizes intervention and divine anger. It is a vengeful calamity.
A storm also symbolizes creative action taken in the great beginnings, and epic finales of history.
The storm represents two perspectives: a period of rebirth and a period of destruction, both brought about by the flow of one element: water. I cannot dream of a stronger symbolism on this inhospitable island.
