Black and White Symbolic Fine Art Photos: “An Imprint of Time”

The Story of the Collection
Nature is simply extraordinary for those who know how to observe and appreciate the shows she offers us.
Natural land landscapes are often invitations to introspection. Through contemplation, they allow us to find answers to our existential questions.
Personally, when I contemplate them, I try to disconnect from my daily life and any thoughts related to my work. I focus on what I see and what I feel. I allow my imagination to wander. I am always seeking a symbolic representation of what I am looking at.
During one of my many trips to the northern part of the Canyonlands, to Island in the Sky, in the state of Utah in the United States, I left my photo equipment in the car. For once, I had decided to let go of photography and embrace why I loved coming to this region so much.
It was 8 a.m. The morning was exceptional. The light conditions were perfect. However, I forced myself not to take photographs of landscapes. I was alone. No noise was noticeable. I allowed myself to contemplate without distraction.
I immersed myself in the view of the large canyons dug by the Colorado River and the Green River, both of which were 1800 meters below.
My imagination wandered as I dreamed of the millions of years it had taken to transform these landscapes. Time passes slowly. It transforms and sculpts our landscapes and our life. And yet, we say that “we have no time” in our modern society. As soon as we reach a goal, we are already looking for a new one. We are constantly chasing something. Time is the rarest and most precious commodity we have. I wonder why we are not more aware of it. Perhaps because time is difficult to quantify. Perhaps we forget that our lives are short. Perhaps we are too materialistic.
I was lost in my thoughts when suddenly I had a very curious idea. I imagined that in front of me were huge creatures that looked like dinosaurs, as they walked below leaving large footprints in the earth. I had visited a moment from over 65 million years ago.
I had before me, the imprints of time.
Each moment has a unique form, a hidden meaning that we must try to discover. Footprints merely exist to remind us that we must work to create solid foundations for the future of our humanity.
If anything, these magnificent landscapes remind us of the purpose of our existence: to learn and to understand how to be happy and how to share happiness with others.
I hope you will feel the same emotions as I do when viewing these black and white fine art prints. They are dedicated to the photography of landscapes in black and white. Close your eyes and place yourself in the image. What do you see?
