The exhibition 'Lights and colors of landscapes in the southern United States'

This exhibition devoted to the wonders of nature as seen in the landscapes of the southern United States takes you from the state of Tennessee in the East to the state of Arizona in the West by way of Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah.

In our photographs we show the beautiful lights and the magical, unique colors found in this country where distances are not measured in kilometers or miles, but in hours of driving.

The exhibition "Lights and colors of landscapes in the southern United States” is on display from June 22 to September 30, 2016 at the bookstore and tea lounge "L’encre et la Boussole” (The Ink and the Compass) in the city of La Tremblade, Charente-Maritime, in western France. This is a peaceful, relaxing place where our landscape photographs take on all their values and all their meanings. In the serene atmosphere in "L’encre et la boussole”, visitors can fully immerse themselves in the atmospheres of landscapes bathed in energizing lights and colors.

The bookstore is located at 3 Rue de la Seudre, 17390 La Tremblade. The website is www.librairie-lencre-laboussole.fr.

This exhibition is on display in an unusual location. We chose it because this location guarantees that the photographs will be seen by many people who visit the bookstore to buy travel books. We thought that this was the best way to reach an audience that shares our passion for the wonders of nature.

A virtual bridge between France and the US

We are two professional photographers who are passionate about the wonders of nature. Our artistic work allows us to share our passion through our landscape, wildlife, and underwater photographs. Since 2001, we have been splitting our time between Charente-Maritime in France and the state of Texas in the United States. We have found our balance while traveling on this virtual bridge that links the two countries.

In Charente-Maritime, we find tranquillity through the soft lights created by the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde estuary. These lights reinvigorate us as we develop a dreamlike, ethereal vision of landscape and wildlife photography.

Our passion for American landscapes

From the vast landscapes of the United States, we draw the energy and raw force to create photographs where borders seem to be abolished. It is when traveling in this country which seems to have no limits that we realize the meaning of the words "greatness" and "infinity".

For 15 years we have been traveling in the US, looking for hidden treasures that are off the beaten path. We remain amazed and enchanted by the beauty and the variety of the landscapes we see, whether they are forested, covered with sand, covered with water, or made up of mineral forms. The landscapes seem to extend to infinity and never end.

It is in these wonderful landscapes, bathed in a rough, sometimes supernatural light, very different from that of Charente-Maritime, that we have learned to listen to silence.

We have always been fascinated by the wonders of nature. Photography has enabled us to express what we feel deep in ourselves when we are standing in a rocky landscape in the great American West or in a forest near the coast of Charente-Maritime. We have chosen to give a contemplative and artistic interpretation of nature.

We still continue our quest

Whether in Charente-Maritime or in the United States, we strive to show the delicate balance between nature and human creations. We take great care to plan the details and the structures of each of our photographs.

Wildlife photo exhibition 'The Lords of the forests of Charente-Maritime'

Exhibition of 30 photographs of animals: deers, wild boars and fallow deers of the forests and woods of the Charente-Maritime department. Portraits and animal behaviors in natural environments highlighting the beauty of that unknown nature.

From June 6 to July 12, 2014, we present 30 photographs in the photographic art gallery D&S Souchon in the city of Royan in Charente-Maritime, France. Two years of work were needed to create these pictures of the lords of the woods the Charente-Maritime region. We spent hundreds of hours in the woods, forests and prairies to capture these special moments. We wanted to highlight the beauty of the deers, wild boar, fallow deers in their natural environments. We paid special attention to the choice of the lights to decorate and dress the most beautiful colors of the coats of animals. We wanted to show in a simple way, the natural beauty of this very misunderstood area for wildlife photography.

We wanted to show that the Charente-Maritime area has a lot of wildlife treasures unknown by tourists and local people. Mammals we photographed are fearful, discreet and fleeing humans. Yet with a good knowledge of the forests and habits of mammals and with a little bit of patience, it is possible to observe and photograph these animals that we nicknamed the 'Lords of the wood of the Charente-Maritime'.
