August 2016: Landscape photography project in Yellowstone National Park

Sunrise over the Yellowstone river.
Sunrise over the Yellowstone river.

In August 2016, we stayed in Yellowstone National Park in the state of Wyoming, USA for 10 days. The purpose of this landscape photography project was to create several collections of fine art photographs.

We have stayed in this huge park several times. It covers 2,219,789 acres and is larger than Rhode Island and Delaware combined. Yellowstone National Park is unique because it has a wide variety of landscapes and unusually abundant wildlife, including deer and herds of bison. Bears and wolves can also be observed, but photographing them means waiting in a blind for hours in a very remote area.

Taking pictures in Yellowstone is very difficult because it is so immense. It can take hours to get from place to place. Over time, we have learned where to place our tripods based on the position of the sun.

This landscape and wildlife photography project started several years ago. During 2016, we have chosen to take pictures of waterfalls, Lamar Valley, and the wetlands around the Yellowstone River. We were able to observe bison crossing the Yellowstone River. For this project, we wanted to photograph the morning mist above the lakes and rivers. Every day we arrived at the site we were going to photograph at 5 in the morning to set up our cameras. We started taking pictures at 5:45 am. During the day we toured the park in search of the best places to photograph.

August is a popular month with tourists. We definitely wanted to avoid the lines of cars, so we searched out small roads in remote areas. We were very cautious because bears live in these areas, and they can be very aggressive.

Oddly, the mornings are very cold in Yellowstone. It is not unusual for the temperature to drop below zero at night. We wore tights under our pants, gloves, hats, and something to cover our noses. We had to be careful to avoid getting frostbite as we waited for daybreak.

Yellowstone is one of the best places in the US for landscape and wildlife photography. But it is also one of the most challenging. We still need more time to get to know the area better.

The photos that we propose in this news are raw and come directly from the camera. They will be used to create fine art collections.

August 2016: Landscape photography project in Grand Teton National Park

In August 2016, we spent several days in Grand Teton National Park in order to photograph the famous mountain of the same name, which rises to 4198 meters (13,770 feet) above sea level.

The purpose of this landscape photography project is to create a new collection of fine art photographs. We decided to follow in the footsteps of the photographer Ansel Adams. We carefully studied all the photographs taken by that renowned photographer. We were very disappointed to find that it was impossible to reproduce the famous picture "Grand Teton and the Snake River" because the view of the river is almost completely obstructed by trees.

All the photographs we have made show Grand Teton in various compositions and framings. For example, we used a barn in the foreground of one photo, the Snake River in another, and a meadow in others.

The goal of this landscape photography project was to show the famous mountain in creative ways and from every angle. As always, we preferred the lights of dawn and dusk, but we also took some pictures during the day.

Taking pictures in Grand Teton National Park can be challenging because some places are difficult to access. Also, it is hard to find the right place to set the tripod to get the right point of view.

About Amar Guillen, Creator of Fine Art Prints of Nature
As a photographer capturing the artistic essence for several decades, I have mastered the art of crafting an authentic experience for art enthusiasts and collectors of visual art.
When I observe my surroundings, be it friends, family, relationships, or professional contacts, I see souls in perpetual motion. Every moment of their existence is engulfed by daily hassles, work concerns, social media, online or televised information streams, and videos on the web.
Every minute, they strive to accomplish something, fearing losing ground and feeling marginalized in this frenzied society. Imprisoned by an oppressive schedule, the essential eludes them, drowned in the tumult of daily life. Is it really crucial to watch yet another cat video on the internet? Is it necessary to post twenty daily messages on social media?
Despite this, they remain constantly stressed and anxious about the challenges of the world, without being able to influence these monumental problems. It is at this moment that my artistic nature photographs come into play. Those who have had the privilege of hanging one of my works in their personal or professional space have expressed a radical transformation in their lives.
Every day, contemplating these works of art immerses them in tranquility, inner peace, and rediscovered serenity. They then understand that nature has the power to unravel tensions, to encourage reflection on the essential. Artistic photographs thus become open windows to the wonders of nature.
I have chosen to share the best of myself by helping others discover their identity, personality, style, all while reconnecting with nature. Take the time to explore my artistic photographs if you wish to reveal your true essence. Once hung in your space, your view of the world will be transformed.
