The lighthouse of Ploumanach, North Brittany

This lighthouse which shows the entry of the harbour of Ploumanac' h in North Brittany is also called "Mean ruz", which means red stone in Brittany language. It is the emblem of the famous pink granite coast in the north of Brittany. The first headlight was built in 1860, was destroyed in 1944 and was rebuilt in 1945. Its height is of 15 meters. Its appearance is very severe and its insulation does not make an exceptional construction of it, but it is the site which reddens with the light of the evening which gives to this unique site, a magic aspect. All the visible rocks around the headlight are out of pink granite.

Galapagos Shark Around Wolf Island

That shark species is in danger following the Ecudorian government authorization allowing the sale of fins. The shark prefers clear water, coral reefs and rocky bottoms, and often swims a few meters above the substrate. A common but habitat-limited species, occurs in depth of 2 m but ranges to the open ocean adjacent to islands, from the surface to at least 80 m. Juveniles seem to be restricted to shallow waters, 25 m or less, which they apparently use as nursery grounds, while the adults range offshore. They are found in aggregations but apparently do not form co-ordinated schools.
