The Story of the Collection
The word “mind” does not encapsulate the totality of phenomena and mental capabilities related to perception, affectivity, thought, intuition, judgment, morality, etc. Nevertheless, that is what it refers to.
In philosophy, the mind is opposed to the body, which is more materialistic. This is also known as consciousness, or the soul.
In psychology, the mind is the set of conscious or unconscious mental activities.
But the mind can also describe some intellectual gifts like vivacity, finesse, and humor.
For this collection of artistic photographs, I was inspired by the definition of the mind concerning the mental faculties.
I have always been fascinated by the mechanisms of thought, intelligence, reflection, and intuition. Because of this interest, I created the theme "Around the Mind". In my photographs, I like to give an account of my moods and the emotions I feel when I photograph terrestrial and aquatic nature.
The greater my interest in areas related to emotions, the more I understand the extent of complexity involved in the thinking processes and the experience of different sensations.
Photographic writing has become vital for me to express the entirety of my values, beliefs, and emotions.
But I find that it is both challenging and complicated. I am interested in shapes, colors, and tones. These things are solid. They can be perceived by the senses, whereas the paths of the mind are facetious, and cannot be fully understood or reflected through photography. For years, I have been searching in nature for a scene that can resemble my difficulty in creating artistic works highlighting my values, beliefs, and emotions.
After vast amounts of searching, I finally found an example in a sulfur lake in the United States. It was here that I discovered the inspiration to show the winding paths I take when I create.
All these photographs are natural. I used water, and its reflections and transparency to simulate this network that exists in my mind. It is an interesting connection: the photographs are created by the mind and yet the mind is reflected in the photographs. This is displayed when I create fine art photographs.
I chose square framing because I appreciate the stability it provides. Even though I am a great dreamer, I am also deeply rooted in the reality of the world. The variations of the colors reflect the different states of my soul. For example, for the periods where my creativity is at its peak, the colors in the photographs are sparkling. It's an explosion of joy and enthusiasm. And yet, I have periods when I cannot produce anything, terrible moments where doubt clouds my perceptions. These dark periods are also depicted in my photographs.
The art photographs that make up this artistic collection "The Paths of the Spirit" are abstract, although the scenes are natural. This is the only method where I can more accurately represent my minds.
This collection has been entirely thought and created in my "lights and colors" style.
