The Valley of the Gods is a natural site in southeastern Utah, in the USA. It is a natural valley carved out of sandstone. The red-colored rock formations strongly resemble those of Monument Valley.
The Valley of the Gods is a natural place where your thoughts and emotions are set free by the surrounding natural beauty. You can enter the site without having to pay a fee. You can travel wherever you wish. You can take the trail that winds between the mounds on a road of pebbles and dust. You can also use the walking trails without permission from anyone, just like you can in Monument Valley.
"Valley of the Gods" should be called "Valley of Freedom" instead. I have camped at the foot of the buttes to enjoy the beautiful morning and evening lights. The only rule I had to keep was to respect the untouched beauty of the place, and to not litter or cause damage. How could anyone want to damage or even move a pebble or a branch in this place that remains wild, swept only by the wind?
In the Valley of the Gods, I listened to the silence. In the evening I contemplated the buttes that are the result of erosion. But symbolically, one can think that they are the silent witnesses of events that they will keep to themselves.
Although "Valley of the Gods" appears to be like "Monument Valley" because of great mounds of rock and dirt, it is still completely different. At the Valley of the Gods, the plains stretch out for miles, as far as the eye can see. Are you seeking a sense of freedom? Visit this magical place, and you may find it.
Symbolically, these buttes evoke the ideas of guardians who stand tall and guard over the memory of the passage of time.
If one day you venture down the rocky track that take you to the center of these formations, you will feel a strange presence. You will feel like you are being watched. Do not try to resist this supernatural feeling. Allow yourself to breathe and embrace this feeling.
