Caddo Lake is located on the border between the state of Texas and the state of Louisiana in the United States. It is the second largest lake in the country and is the only natural lake in Texas. Yet it has a particularity: it is very shallow: 10 feet at most (3 meters). It is the largest Cypress forest in the United States.

It is a lake that presents an aura of mystery because of the Spanish moss falling from the branches of cypresses. Trees become ghostly when daylight disappears. They give the impression of giants made of plants that silently move across the water. I always have the impression that their massive hairy arms are waiting to pull us into the secret depths of the forest, where a druid will reveal the forest’s ancient mysteries. It's a very strange feeling.

Contemplating the landscape of Caddo Lake is a unique experience. The place is calm and serene. If we stay long enough to contemplate it from the shores, we can still see the silhouettes of the smugglers who came to manufacture and sell alcohol during the prohibition era. Or, we can see the silhouettes of Caddo Lake Indians who populated the area before being expelled in the 19th century. These facts are not legends. For those who know how to watch and listen, Caddo Lake can reveal some of its mysteries. But for that, you must listen with the innocent soul of a child in order to be dragged into the story.
