The Story of the Collection
The horizon is an imaginary line where the sky and the earth or the sea seem to merge to become one.
Symbolically, the horizon is the field of existence. The horizon is often seen as fabulous. There is always something to discover beyond the horizon. We always have the impression that it will be better.
The horizon suggests a projection towards the future. Often, the horizon represents for us a perspective, new projects to realize, an opening, a new look. The horizon is seen as the source of a new life, a new beginning.
In this collection of art photographs, I have chosen to illustrate these different symbolic forms of the horizon. I chose to show horizontal lines. They evoke stability, calm, rest, tranquility, and openness.
All these photographs were taken on the surface of the water from floating huts. It often happens that when I photograph birds on ponds, I see nothing. Birds are free beings that choose where they want to go. It is up to me to adapt and patiently wait for their good will. During those long hours of waiting while standing in the middle of the ponds, I watch the surface of the water as the sun rises. It becomes hypnotic with the different reflections bouncing off one another. My imagination becomes overflowing. I sometimes let myself go and choose to photograph the small waves caused by the wind.
This collection of art photographs perfectly evokes the horizon. The ripples advance on the water towards distant and infinite horizons. They are bearers of hope, perhaps of a new beginning. These horizons that I perceive through my telephoto lens are new perspectives in my life.
