Wildlife Fine Art Prints: "Birds of la Dombes in France"

The Story of the Collection
You may have had the chance to explore the Dombes region on foot or by bicycle.
Perhaps you have noticed that this immense wetland, which is located north of Lyon in France, is studded with more than 1,000 ponds. Did you know that their surface is estimated at more than 25,000 acres (10,000 hectares)? These man-made water sources are used to farm many species of white fish: carp, rudd, pike, and pikeperch. These ponds and fish attract many species of birds that find an open-air breeding ground.
Some species of birds are migratory, like the purple heron, the turdoid warbler, the tufted duck, the pochard duck. Other species have decided to make their homes in the surrounding area, such as the grey heron, pheasants, and mallards.
Just like you, I have developed a real passion for the Dombes' ponds and the birds that have chosen to live there. Since 2012, each year, I spend 6 weeks photographing them from floating blinds that I place on different ponds. Each pond has its specificities.
Some ponds are suitable for ducks because the bottom is carpeted in rich grass. Other ponds are more suitable for herons and waders, because they can fish by moving along the banks. Others are adapted to shorebirds that like to eat in the mudflats. This is the case, for example, of the northern lapwing, the white stilt, and the elegant avocet.
The variation of the biotopes allows to find, observe and photograph completely different species. It took me years to understand the functioning of each pond.
But my goal is not to photograph birds in a naturalistic way. I could very well do that in other parts of the world. Every year, when I make this pilgrimage to Dombes, my ultimate goal is to create photos in unique natural environments.
In these wildlife art photos dedicated to the wild birds of the Dombes, I am proud to share the magical atmospheres created by the lights and the natural environments that border the ponds.
You will discover the grace and beauty of birds in their daily life. I call this photographic style "Environmental Wildlife Photography". My goal is to stage the birds in a light and environment. I wanted to sublimate their elegance and grace. I also wanted to capture a glimpse of their attitudes which continue to fascinate me.
If you know the Dombes, you may recognize some places where you have walked. The particular smells of the ponds may tickle your nose with its fresh scents.
These animal art photographs are perfectly adapted for the bedroom or playroom of a child or teen who is passionate about nature. They can also find a place in your professional living space. Wherever they are placed, these photos are a simple invitation to reconnect with nature and escape to other horizons.
These art photos are a window on nature. Leave it ajar and allow yourself to become enchanted by the magic of nature.
